Winter

November – December – January – February

– Plant Hardening and Protection
– Root Development
– Moss Control

Your lawn should be heading into this period in as strong a condition as possible.

Grass is dormant and weak, trying to preserve its energy until spring. Moss will take advantage of this and continue to spread through the turf.
An application Iron is applied to halt the moss, the iron also helps harden the grass plant at this vulnerable time ensuring it heads into spring in the healthiest possible condition.

Spring

March – April – May

– Pre Season Starter Treatments

Late March and Early April, your lawn is just starting to test the water and see if it’s time to start growing yet.

April is the time to apply a spring starter feed to kick-start the growth ahead of the main growing season
Late April early May is the time to get a weed treatment down. One application should see season long control of most broad leaved weeds.

Summer

June – July – August

– Controlled Release Feeds
– Weed Treatments

June/July is around the time we should be looking at our second feed application of season. A slow release granular formula can be tailored to suite your site. Any new weeds that have appeared will be spot treated.

Autumn

September – October

– Plant Nutrition
– Winter Plant Hardening
– Pest and Weed Control

During late summer and early autumn, most grasses such as fescue, meadow and ryegrass, enter a period of renewed growth. While summer heat can be stressful and even damaging, the return of milder temperatures and more consistent rainfall enables these grasses to recover from heat stress, fill in bare patches, and strengthen their root systems. This surge in growth is the last chance of the year to repair, nourish, and fortify the lawn.

The last controlled release fertiliser will be applied, along with iron where needed to help harden up the plant and get a head start on keeping any moss that may be evident, at bay.

A well-timed feeding regime is fundamental during this season. The ideal fertiliser will depend on your grass type, soil condition, and the unique needs of your lawn. Generally, a balanced fertiliser high in nitrogen is appropriate in late summer, as it encourages leaf and shoot growth, helping the lawn recover from summer stresses.
