Overseeding

We use only the finest cultivars of seed on the market, to ensure maximum germination, turf colour and hardiness.
Not all seed is the same! Let us determine what grass is right for you and your site.
Scarification

Over time if grass is left to its own devices, it becomes thick and spongy. This can lead to a multitude of problems from summer drought stress, pest and disease attack, excessive moss build up and water logging.
Scarifying removes excess grass and thatch build up, allowing your lawn to thrive and create a better environment for the grass plant.
Leatherjacket Treatments
The Effects of Leatherjackets on Residential Lawns
Leatherjackets, the larvae of crane flies (commonly known as daddy longlegs), can wreak havoc on residential lawns. These pests are notorious for their voracious appetite for grass roots, which can lead to significant damage if left unchecked. The Crane flies hatch and breed in late summer early autumn and then mate immediately and lay their eggs in the soil or turf. These eggs hatch into larvae known as Leatherjackets within a few weeks. The larvae then feed on the grass roots and other plant material from autumn through to the following summer.

Signs of Infestation
One of the first signs of a leatherjacket infestation is the appearance of patches of dead or dying grass, usually around November to January time when the turf is starting to go dormant. As leatherjackets feed on the roots, the grass loses its ability to absorb water and nutrients, leading to brown, dying patches. Additionally, you might notice increased activity from birds and other wildlife, such as crows, magpies, and foxes, which dig up the lawn to feed on the larvae.
The areas will usually start off small, but as the Leatherjackets grow and search for more food it can quickly spread across the entire lawn. The damage caused by Leatherjackets can be extensive. In severe cases, a high population of leatherjackets can lead to complete turf loss, requiring costly repairs and re- turfing.
Prevention and Control
We now have a promising new chemical for controlling Leatherjackets. The product contains an active ingredient which targets the Leatherjacket larvae, without harming beneficial insects or the environment. The chemical works by disrupting the muscle function of the larvae, leading to their death.
It is applied in late October/early November when the larvae are small, as a soil drench so needs to be watered in immediately after application or applied when it’s raining, and it has shown excellent results in reducing leatherjacket populations.
